What is a chemical peel ?

Invest in your skin. It is going to represent you for a very long time.

What is a chemical peel you may ask?

A chemical peel has the ability to improve the appearance of your skin such as face, hands, and neck. A chemical solution is applied to the skin which will cause the skin to eventually peel off. The new, rejuvenated skin will be softer, smoother, and less likely to have the same wrinkles as before. The skin will be temporarily sensitive to the sun.

Types of chemical peels

  • Superficial peel: The superficial peel is the mildest peel, it's so gentle they call it the "lunchtime peel". The most common products in this peel would be the Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid. The peeling agents are mixed with other mild potions to create a liquid formula that is going to be applied to the skin, for a certain amount of time just enough to penetrate the epidermis. This treatment is used to improve mild discoloration, rough skin, also works on refreshing the face, neck, hands and chest.
  • Medium peel: The medium chemical peel is also known as "TCA" chemical peels. They provide more dramatic results than light chemical peels. They don't require an extended recovery time. The most common products in a medium peel would be Trichloroacetic Acid and Glycolic Acid. This treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, freckles and moderate discoloration.
  • Deep peel: The deep chemical peel is also known as Phenol chemical peels. These are the most aggressive chemical peels. A phenol peel uses Carbolic Acid to treat the skin therefore, the procedure can not be done in certain places, it has to be done on the whole face. This chemical peel is used to treat sun damaged skin, wrinkles and scars. The recovery time for a deep chemical peel would be to stay at home for a whole week and not get sun.

Reasons to get a chemical peel

  • Acne scars
  • Aging skin
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Wrinkles
  • Crow's feet
