Here's what you Should be doing to Prevent Dark Inner Thighs

Dark skin on the inner thighs can be experienced by anyone, regardless of skin tone. It occurs when the skin on the inner thigh produces an abundance of melanin, a pigment that gives skin its color. This is called hyperpigmentation. The discoloration of dark inner thighs may even stretch into the bikini or groin area.

Other reasons for dark inner thighs include excessive sweating, poor hygiene, using various hair removal techniques like shaving, hormonal imbalance, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to name a few. While most of us tend to ignore this body part, it will only feel hygienic to not have a body part which is of a different skin tone than the rest of your body.

There are a number of reasons why a person may experience a darkening of the skin on the inner thighs. Some of these reasons may include:
  • chafing, which can occur during exercise or walking, and may cause the skin to become thin, itchy, and discolored
  • hormonal imbalance, particularly among women during lactation, pregnancy, or menstruation, or among those with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • certain medications, like hormonal oral contraceptives or certain chemotherapy medications
  • sun exposure
  • dry skin
  • friction from tight clothing
  • acanthosis nigricans, a skin pigmentation disorder
  • diabetes mellitus
Below we will include a few home remedies that could help you.

 Lemon:

Not only does lemon have exfoliating properties that help in removing skin impurities, it also acts as a bleaching agent which can help in lightening your skin tone. You can apply fresh lemon juice in your inner thighs, let it stay for around 20 minutes and remove with a wet cloth. Do this at least thrice a week for effective results. People with dry and sensitive skin can dilute lemon juice with water to prevent dryness.

Skin Redness

From a sunburn to an allergic reaction, there are many situations in which your skin can become red or irritated. It may be because extra blood rushes to the skin’s surface to fight off irritants and encourage healing. Your skin can also become red from exertion, such as after a heart-pounding exercise session.

It’s not always cause for concern, but skin redness can be irritating and uncomfortable. It can also be accompanied by other symptoms. Figuring out its underlying cause can help you treat your skin and keep it from happening again.

What are the symptoms of skin redness?

The main symptom associated with skin redness is varying colors of redness on the skin. The redness can occur in varying degrees and on different portions of the body. Here are some examples of symptoms that you may have along with red skin:

  • Blistering
  • Bumps
  • Burning
  • Flushing
  • Hives
  • Itching
  • Rash
  • Warmth in your skin
  • Sores
  • Swelling

What are the causes of skin redness?

Causes of skin irritation vary drastically and can include irritants, the sun, and insect bites. Examples of skin conditions associated with skin redness include:

  • Atopic Dermatitis
  • Bites
  • Cellulitis
  • Contact Dermatitis
  • Diaper Rash
  • Eczema
  • Heat Rash
  • Medication Allergy
  • Psoriasis
  • Ringworm
  • Rosacea
  • Scarlet Fever
  • Shingles
  • Skin Burns
  • Skin infections
  • Sunburns

Skin redness can be a temporary, or acute, condition. It can also be a chronic condition that constantly reappears.
When do I seek medical help for skin redness?

You should get immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following symptoms associated with skin redness:
  • a burn that’s twice the size of your palm
  • difficulty breathing
  • extreme pain
  • loss of consciousness
  • the redness is near or on your eyes and is affecting your vision

You should also get medical attention if you have an animal bite, even if you’ve had a tetanus shot.

See a healthcare provider or dermatologist for other symptoms that aren’t considered a medical emergency.

How’s skin redness treated?

Treatments for skin redness depend on what’s causing it. Examples can include avoiding the irritant or allergen that caused your skin redness in the first place.

Other treatments for skin redness can be:

  • cleansing the affected area with soap and water
  • medications like antihistamines to minimize irritation
  • topical skin care applications like calamine lotion to reduce skin redness

Keeping the affected area clean and dry can usually help reduce skin redness. If an infection is the cause of your skin redness, your healthcare provider may prescribe antibiotics to reduce the infection’s symptoms.

The Dangers of Sunbathing.

In the summer months, it is not uncommon for many of us to strip down to our under clothing and expose our bodies to the warmth of the sunlight. Sunbathing is regarded as one of the pleasures in life in summer. While it can bring with it the all important tan, sunbathing can have certain side-effects on individuals as well.

Harmful Effects:

Sunbathing involves exposure of the skin to heat emitted by the sun. Exposure of the skin to this heat for prolonged periods of time can result in excessive sweating and loss of water from within the skin.
Sunbathing can cause a great deal of dehydration, which can result in a damage to the skin with the pass of time. If a person does not keep a good hydration while sunbathing this could cause their blood pressure to drop dramatically enough to cause them to collapse. This known as a heat stroke.

Sunburns:

Constant exposure to sunlight can also increase the temperature of the skin resulting in what is commonly called as ‘sunburn’. The damage to the skin depends upon the type of skin the individual has. Some people are more prone to developing sunburns while some tend not to develop it but only have a tan following exposure to sunlight.

Skin Cancer

Cancer of the skin is yet another risk that is associated with prolonged periods of sunbathing. As previously mentioned, the ultraviolet rays in sunlight can damage the skin especially in light-skinned individuals.

The damage of the skin cells requires them to heal adequately after the exposure has concluded.
However, when prolonged exposure occurs, the skin cells can change their morphology and overtime they could become cancerous. In a nutshell, constant sunbathing without adequate protection can cause skin cancer.

Premature Aging

Prolonged exposure to the sun has been known to cause premature aging of the skin. Using sunscreen is always recommended and to also avoid sunbathing between 11 in the morning 3 in the morning.

Protecting the skin

The best way to protect the skin during sunbathing is to wear creams that have a high sun protection factor (SPF). SPFs are designed to prevent damage of the skin by both ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays.
It is recommended that using a cream that has a sun protection factor of at least 15 be used when sunbathing. Application must be generous and must be done at least half an hour prior to sunbathing.
If an individual wishes to have a long sunbathing session, it is important to top up the application from time to time as its effect can wear off fairly quickly.

Ways to treat Sunburn

  • Place a cool compress on sunburned skin for immediate sunburn relief.
  • Take a cool shower or bath to cool your sunburned skin. Check out these natural bath therapies to soothe sunburn pain and other symptoms.
  • Add one cup of apple cider vinegar to a bath to help balance the pH (acid or alkalinity) of sunburned skin, and promote healing.
  • Soak in an oatmeal bath. This is especially helpful for itchy sunburned skin.
  • Add some lavender or chamomile essential oil to the bath to help relieve some of the stinging and pain.
  • Add 2 cups of baking soda to the bath to help ease irritation and redness from sunburn.
  • Avoid soap or perfumes in the bath water as these can be drying on already dry and sunburned skin.
Use lotions that contain aloe Vera to soothe and moisturize sunburnt skin. Some aloe products contain lidocaine an anesthetic that can help relieve sunburn pain. Aloe Vera is also a good moisturizer for peeling skin.
Drink lots of water, juice, or sport drinks. Your skin is dry and dehydrated. Replacing lost body fluids will help your skin heal from sunburn more quickly.

How aloe vera rejuvenates your skin

Aloe has been used medicinally for centuries and one of its many uses is in skin care. But as a wrinkle cure, the solution is far more than skin deep. Aloe Vera hydrates and rejuvenates, making skin more flexible.

A lot of women experience a decrease in wrinkles, also improvements in facial elasticity. A lot women also see an increase in collagen production.

But before you run out and get a giant tub of aloe vera gel or the largest aloe plant you can find to reduce wrinkles, make sure you read all the labels so you won't add chemicals to your face.  A small healthy aloe plant could keep your skin healthy for months.

Aloe has many benefits in addition to being an anti-aging solution:
  • Skin moisturizer
  • Burn relief. Very popular for at home sunburns
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Relieves digestive distress
  • Possible heart health and blood pressure benefits
