Here is why you should get facials every month.
A good daily skin care routine is essential for maintaining a healthy looking, fresh skin, but every once in a while we need to leave it to the professionals and get a facial treatment at a beauty salon or a spa. More precisely, you should get one once a month or every 6 weeks. By making it a habit of scheduling a regular appointment in spa centers.
A facial is a multi-step, multi-purpose skin treatment including steam, face masks, exfoliation, cleansing, a face massage and a variety of creams and lotions. There are many types of facial treatments, and choosing the one you need depends on your skin type and skin issues. Some are highly moisturizing, others are firming and restoring, while some focus on problem areas and certain skin conditions.
No matter the type, all facials have some amazing benefits for your skin:
Deep Cleansing:
- A better, deeper cleanse than the one you do at home – a cleansing facial will help your skin get rid of oil buildup, toxins and dirt from your everyday environment, thoroughly removing all the bacteria that could cause skin issues. A good exfoliation like microdermabrasion will remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and unclog your pores, allowing the absorption of other products. This will also make your skin look and feel softer and smoother, making your makeup blend easier and look better.
Extraction, if needed, is great for removing blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and preventing breakouts. This is a must – do step for everyone struggling with acne because it clears out the skin and gives it a purifying effect.
Anti-Aging Facial treatments:
- Can help slow down the aging process and prevent the appearance of wrinkles. Massaging your face with an anti-aging cream will immediately increase the blood circulation and oxygen flow, which promotes collagen production and enhances the elasticity of your skin. This leads to a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and preventing their appearance. Remember: It’s never too early to take good care of your skin!
Relaxing Massages:
- Are so good for relaxing, relieving stress and balancing your mind. Just like your body, your face muscles need a massage and most facial treatments include one. The boost in circulation you’ll get will stimulate the lymphatic vessels and detoxify your skin, making it look healthy and youthful. The nice smell of face masks is only another incredible addition to a soothing, relaxing experience.
Skin Rejuvenation:
- The exfoliation, extraction, massage, steam and mask application during a facial treatment lead to skin rejuvenation, or in other words – a fresh, renewed skin. This improves the appearance of the skin, giving it a healthy, radiant glow and balanced complexion. You might not see the results instantly, but on the long run, your skin is going to get restored! So keep in mind that being regular and consistent with your facials is a key.
Improved Skin Care Routine:
- A good aesthetician will analyze your skin condition and help you choose the best facial treatment for your skin type. You can pick up some good advice by a professional, talk about your daily skin care routine and get recommendations on which products would work best for your skin. This is important because you can use these tips to prevent further issues and keep your skin in good condition.
- The specialist will diagnose your skin disorders, if there are any, and alert you of changes in moles or suspicious spots if noticed, that could be a sign of a more serious skin problem and require the attention of a medical professional.
Treating A Variety Of Skin Issues.
- After being diagnosed with a skin condition, getting a regular facial treatment will help treat it and heal your skin. Issues like blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, sunspots and sun damage, acne, inflammation and redness, rosacea, dehydration, wrinkles, acne scarring, loss of firmness and elasticity can be minimized or completely treated with the right facial treatment.

Skin Care Tips for this Spring
New season, new skin-care regimen. And since spring skin is probably on your mind, given that the official start to the season is just around the corner, there's no better time than the present to start prepping your complexion for the impending (and highly welcomed) rising temps and sticky, heavy humidity that lies ahead. Here are the five top tips from dermatologists to help stave off vernal skin-related freak-outs.
Gone are the days of duck boots, fur-lined hoods, and loading up your visage with thick creams and serums to help fight off the wicked winter wind. Come spring, it's time to swap out your heavy formulas for lighter lotions, "While ingredients like petrolatum help protect the skin, certain products can weigh you down especially in humid weather,". Which is why we recommend an oil-free moisturizer, like the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 15
, which goes on light and smooth, but is rich enough to quench skin without kickstarting excessive oil production.
After a months spent bundled up in beanies and parkas, slathering on sun protection is a must once temps start to rise, says Miami-based dermatologist Christopher O’Connell. (Although TBH, you should have been rocking daily SPF November through March, too.) "Springtime is actually a high risk time for sunburns and sun damage," says O'Connell. "Although the weather is warmer, it's still so mild you might not feel how strong the sun is. Apply sunscreen every morning and reapply it again before any outdoor activity during the day."
"It's clear zinc oxide sunscreen that also contains niacinamide to help give the skin a glow." (As a reminder, niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that strengthens the skin's outer layers, improves elasticity, and curbs redness and irritation.)
Since you'll be spending more time in the sun, look for makeup that offers even coverage and protection, says Elizabeth Tanzi, Washington D.C.-based dermatologist and founder and director of Capital Laser & Skin Care. "Hit up the local beauty store and/or department store to find the perfect color BB cream with tint, SPF, and antioxidants," says Tanzi. "If you invest the time to find the perfect match for your skin, you are much more likely to use the two products every day, which is a major investment in the long-term health and beauty of the skin." The Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti- Aging Perfector was our Best of Beauty winner in 2016, but we also like hyaluronic acid-spiked Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35.
Because the sun's more prominent in the spring (a.k.a. a hell of a lot brighter, thank God), people are more prone to squinting, says Debra Jaliman, a New York City dermatologist. To combat the fine lines and wrinkles that can form around the eyes, find an eye cream with a high concentration of antioxidants and peptides, advises Jaliman. The duo work to both ward-off the collagen-destroying effects of UVA rays, and plump up the fine lines and wrinkles that have already formed. Our pick?
Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream
, which also contains smoothing niacinamide to help even out crepey texture. Of course, a pair of big sunglasses is never a bad idea, either.
- Start scrubbing.
Snow, sludge, and rain can cause season-long buildup on the skin—of dead skin cells, leftover product, and environmental toxins—which is why Beverly Hills-based dermatologist Ava Shamban recommends exfoliating in the new season. "Light micro dermabrasion, followed by a moisturizing mask, will help get rid of that old dead, winter skin," says Shamban. To keep skin smooth and hydrated, Shamban recommends masking up to three times a week. A few of our favorites? The TonyMoly Megatox Ampoule Mask and the Frank Body Glow Mask both of which offer loads of extra extra hydration while giving skin a fresh, dewy glow.
- Lighten your load.

Wrinkles, The Aging Factor
What are Wrinkles? They are creases, folds or ridges in the skin, Usually start to appear as people start to age but also can develop after staying in the water for a long period of time. The most common wrinkles and tend to be the first ones on a persons face are caused by facial expressions.
Some of the cauzants for wrinkles to start to appear can be
- dehydration
- Sun damage
- smoking
- some medications
- environmental and genetic factors
As people get older, their skin gets thinner, drier, and less elastic, and less able to protect itself from damage.
When a person is young, the skin springs back, but as they get older, the skin loses its flexibility. Springing back becomes harder and less frequent, resulting in more permanent grooves.
Types of Treatments for Wrinkles
More ways to prevent or slow the aging process..
Along with these methods, people tend to also try Dermabrasion, Laser Therapy, Botox, Facelifts and Chemical Peels. Although these might cost you a pretty penny, like the saying goes "Beauty comes at a high cost".

The two main types of wrinkles are surface lines and deep furrows. Most wrinkle treatments if they have any effect it will tend only reduce fine lines for more deeper creases, there are surgical treatments, injections or fillers.
Avoiding excessive sun exposure reduces skin damage, because the sun causes the skin to age faster. Quitting smoking can prevent the accelerated aging of skin. Even a long-term heavy smoker can slow down the process by giving up. Avoiding alcohol can also prevent them because it dehydrates the skin and body. Another tip might be sleeping well at least 7 hours a night, eating more healthy and balanced a regular exercising will maintain overall health which by consequence include healthier skin quality.

How often do you need a facial ?
A facial is a beauty treatment for your face. Facials use everything from oils, creams, gels and serums to electric currents, oxygen jets and massage to give you a cleaner, healthier, brighter skin. Specialists recommend that people have a professional facial about every three to four weeks. That's how long it takes your skin to move through the full life cycle of skin cell growth and exfoliation.
Main steps to a basic facial
- Skin analysis followed by a cleaning of the face.
- Exfoliation (A gentle acid peel, ultrasonic exfoliation, microdermabrasion).
- Steam.
- Massage of the face and neck.
- Manual extractions to clear out blackheads and clogged pores.
- Mask ( Pore reduction, dry skin, oily skin, fine lines).
What are we aiming for by getting a facial done you may ask
- To clean in order to get rid of the layer of dead skin cells and clean pores to help prevent acne.
- To balance and improve the texture, general health and appearance of your skin.
- To rehydrate (moisturize) and brighten your complexion.
- To make you look younger, firmer, fresher and lovelier.
- To maintain healthy skin.

Learn how to conceal wrinkles
Learn how to conceal wrinkles
Sometimes you need a quick fix for a problem that has already occurred. In that case, you will need to take extra care of your skin.
Sometimes you need a quick fix for a problem that has already occurred. In that case, you will need to take extra care of your skin.
- Hydrate your skin: As you get older, your skin becomes a bit dry. When the skin gets dry, wrinkles and fine lines get easy access, and the only solution is to moisturize the skin. Moisturizers help to lock the moisture and keep the skin hydrated for longer periods of time. Eventually, they help conceal your wrinkles, so they aren’t visible.
- Make-up: This method is the easiest way to hide your fine lines and wrinkles. This quick and easy fix is only temporary, however, and it should be used in conjunction with the other sites that help solve the problem rather than conceal it.
- Avoid excessive washing: Dermatologist believes that excessive washing can make your skin dry. When cleaned, the skin loses its natural oil and moisture that prevent wrinkles. To avoid this try washing your face only twice a day, and do so gently. Use a soft towel and gently pat your face dry.
- Medical treatment: There are several medications and techniques that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and make those fine lines less visible. Like anti-age facials, Contact me if you feel that your skin needs professional care. I can help you choose the best products and procedures to get the best results. Call me at 305-541-1630
- Anti-aging products – There are a lot of products today that minimize existing wrinkles and slow down an appearance of new ones. Some products stop skin aging and minimizes wrinkles to restore youthful skin appearance. Make sure to look for ingredients that make your skin smooth, firm, and hydrated. Liz Skincare also offers treatments that improve collagen production and restores elasticity of your skin. Products are applied to clean face, neck and cleavage. Always invest time for your skin care routine.
