My Night Skin Care Tips

The best time of the day to cleanse your face, leave products or let your face breathe is at night.

Here I am going to list some tips I recommend for anyone looking for daily night skin care tips:

CleanseThis is a given, but sometimes it is easy to simply fall into bed without taking the time to clear away the dirt and grime of the day. For those with oily skin, use a cleanser with salicylic or glycolic acid.

Remove all makeup: You have to remove all makeup before going to sleep at night because leaving the makeup can cause you acne and/or irritation.

Apply a soothing face mask: To help your skincare products sink in more efficiently.

Exfoliate: You should exfoliate only two or three times a week; more often can dry your skin.

Use a toner: Use a toner that is specifically made for your skin type. For example, those with dry or normal skin shouldn’t use toners that contain alcohol or it can irritate or dry your skin.

Moisturize: Moisturizing your face should always come after a cleansing. When you wash your face, you wash away essential oils and moisturizing your skin helps replenish it. If you have oily skin, make sure you are using a moisturizer that is water based and meant for your skin type. Take an extra couple minutes and use a deep moisturizer on the extra dry areas of your body, such as elbows, knees, heels and hands and feet.

A good nights sleep: A good nights sleep will literally help your face refresh your face.

Moisturize. Many acne products contain ingredients that dry the skin, so always use a moisturizer that minimizes dryness and skin peeling. Look for "noncomedogenic" on the label, which means it should not cause acne. There are moisturizers made for oily, dry, or combination skin.

Did you know?!
Your skin can be oily and dehydrated at the same time.

When your skin is dehydrated (lacking water) your sebum production will kick in, in over drive. You will have excess oil and still lack the much needed hydration your skin needs.

This creates the perfect recipe for milia, clogged pores and breakouts.

Here is why you should get facials every month.

A good daily skin care routine is essential for maintaining a healthy looking, fresh skin, but every once in a while we need to leave it to the professionals and get a facial treatment at a beauty salon or a spa. More precisely, you should get one once a month or every 6 weeks. By making it a habit of scheduling a regular appointment in spa centers.

A facial is a multi-step, multi-purpose skin treatment including steam, face masks, exfoliation, cleansing, a face massage and a variety of creams and lotions. There are many types of facial treatments, and choosing the one you need depends on your skin type and skin issues. Some are highly moisturizing, others are firming and restoring, while some focus on problem areas and certain skin conditions.

No matter the type, all facials have some amazing benefits for your skin:

Deep Cleansing:

  •  A better, deeper cleanse than the one you do at home – a cleansing facial will help your skin get rid of oil buildup, toxins and dirt from your everyday environment, thoroughly removing all the bacteria that could cause skin issues. A good exfoliation like microdermabrasion will remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and unclog your pores, allowing the absorption of other products. This will also make your skin look and feel softer and smoother, making your makeup blend easier and look better.

Extraction, if needed, is great for removing blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and preventing breakouts. This is a must – do step for everyone struggling with acne because it clears out the skin and gives it a purifying effect.

Anti-Aging Facial treatments:

  •  Can help slow down the aging process and prevent the appearance of wrinkles. Massaging your face with an anti-aging cream will immediately increase the blood circulation and oxygen flow, which promotes collagen production and enhances the elasticity of your skin. This leads to a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and preventing their appearance. Remember: It’s never too early to take good care of your skin!

Relaxing Massages:

  •  Are so good for relaxing, relieving stress and balancing your mind. Just like your body, your face muscles need a massage and most facial treatments include one. The boost in circulation you’ll get will stimulate the lymphatic vessels and detoxify your skin, making it look healthy and youthful. The nice smell of face masks is only another incredible addition to a soothing, relaxing experience.

Skin Rejuvenation:

  • The exfoliation, extraction, massage, steam and mask application during a facial treatment lead to skin rejuvenation, or in other words – a fresh, renewed skin. This improves the appearance of the skin, giving it a healthy, radiant glow and balanced complexion. You might not see the results instantly, but on the long run, your skin is going to get restored! So keep in mind that being regular and consistent with your facials is a key.

Improved Skin Care Routine:

  •  A good aesthetician will analyze your skin condition and help you choose the best facial treatment for your skin type. You can pick up some good advice by a professional, talk about your daily skin care routine and get recommendations on which products would work best for your skin. This is important because you can use these tips to prevent further issues and keep your skin in good condition.

  • The specialist will diagnose your skin disorders, if there are any, and alert you of changes in moles or suspicious spots if noticed, that could be a sign of a more serious skin problem and require the attention of a medical professional.

Treating A Variety Of Skin Issues.

  • After being diagnosed with a skin condition, getting a regular facial treatment will help treat it and heal your skin. Issues like blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, sunspots and sun damage, acne, inflammation and redness, rosacea, dehydration, wrinkles, acne scarring, loss of firmness and elasticity can be minimized or completely treated with the right facial treatment.

4 Easy Ways to Rejuvenate your Skin

As we age, our skin naturally loses some of its softness and vibrancy. However, there are a number of simple lifestyle changes that can help rejuvenate the skin, such as wearing sunscreen and getting more sleep. Applying facial masks consisting of exfoliating ingredients like lemon and green tea can also help rejuvenate the skin.

Now we want to help you keep your skin beautiful and glowing, here's some ways you could achieve that:

Know your skin type. How you care for your skin will depend on your particular skin type. There are five basic skin types.

  • Normal skin is clear and not particularly sensitive.
  • Dry skin is flaky or rough.
  • Sensitive skin may burn or itch when you apply certain products.
  • Combination skin is dry in some areas and oily in others.

Use a gentle cleanser. Rise your face with the cleanser, but don’t scrub. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
  • If you find a particular cleanser dries out your face, experiment with different brands until you find one that works. A cleanser without alcohol or fragrance will work best with dry skin.
  • If you have oily skin, use an oil-free, non-comedogenic foaming cleanser.
  • For sensitive skin, choose a hypoallergenic cleanser that doesn’t contain unnecessary additives.
  • Don’t over wash your skin. Over washing dries out your skin. Unless you are exercising, you shouldn’t need to wash your face more than once a day. In the morning, wash your face with lukewarm water. At night, apply your gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
  • Remove your makeup at night. Makeup clogs your pores and can lead to acne. Remove it each night before bed using a gentle cleanser.

Apply toner. Skin toners help soak up oil and remove dirt. They should be applied before moisturizers.

  • Begin by applying a gentle toner in after washing your face in the morning and the evening. Apply the toner to a cotton ball and gently rub the toner onto your face in small circles. Repeat the process with new cotton balls until you no longer see dirt on the cotton ball after you apply it to your face.

  • Apply moisturizer. Whether your skin is normal, dry, or oily, it needs moisture. Choose an oil-free moisturizing to avoid blocking your pores.
    • Choose a moisturizing the contains an SPF of at least 30.
    • If your skin is oily, use a noncomedogenic lotion-based moisturizing instead of a cream to avoid clogging your pores.
    • If you skin is very dry, choose a moisturizing that contains hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide, both of which help reduce water loss.
    • If you have sensitive skin, choose a moisturizing that contains green tea, rose, or chamomile.
    • Apply moisturizing twice a day: when you wake up and before you go to sleep.
    • Apply the moisturizer while your skin is still damp.
    • Apply moisturizing every day for the best results.

    How to treat Back acne?

Your face isn't the only place that acne can develop, it can actually develop in any part of the body that has oil-secureting glands or hair follicles, including back, chest and shoulders. Back acne most commonly referred to as "bacne" can be very troublesome.

While 92 percent of people suffer from facial acne, the 62 percent has back acne and even chest acne.
Having acne on your back and chest is a sign that your acne is more likely to be severe.
Your back, like your face, has numerous sebaceous glands that secrete sebum, an oily substance. Sebum, along with dead skin cells and bacteria, can build up in the hair follicles on your back and clog them. A clogged follicle eventually breaks down and forms an acne lesion.

    Types of Back Acne

The types of acne lesions that can occur on your back include:

    • Whiteheads. Whiteheads, also referred to as closed comedones, develop when a plugged follicle stays closed and underneath your skin, forming a white bump.
    • Blackheads. When a plugged follicle is located on the surface of your skin and is open, it forms a blackhead, also referred to as an open comedone. The black-tip appearance of blackheads is due to a reaction between sebum and the air, not because dirt has filled your follicle.
    • Papules. Acne lesions that appear as small pink bumps on your skin and are sometimes tender are called papules.
    • Pustules. Also called a pimple, a pustule is a white or yellow pus-filled papule with a reddened base.
    • Nodules. When an acne lesion develops deep below the surface of your skin, it can harden and form a large, painful nodule.
    • Cysts. Cysts are larger, pus-filled acne lesions that are very painful and can scar the skin.

How can it be Prevented or Treated?

Although you can't control if you get back acne,  because the main factors are out of your control. You can reduce the chances of developing future back acne lesions by:

    • Avoiding certain medications. Some drugs, including androgens (male hormones) and lithium, are known to increase your chances of developing acne. If you are taking any of these medications, talk with your doctor about possible alternative treatments.
    • Limiting your use of oil-based skin care products. Try not to use moisturizers, cosmetics, sunscreens, and any other oily products on your back, because they can lead to back acne flare-ups. Also, look for products labeled non-comedogenic, meaning that they don’t promote blackheads.
    • Eliminating pressure on your back. If you carry a backpack or wear sports equipment, like shoulder pads, that places pressure on your back, try not wearing it for a while or, alternatively, wear a clean cotton T-shirt under it. Prolonged pressure and friction from these objects on your back can trigger certain types of back acne breakouts, called acne mechanica.

Skin Picking Disorder (Excoriation) Tips & Treatment

Many people pick at their skin once in a while, but sometimes it crosses the line into a condition called skin picking disorder (excoriation).
When this happens, picking at the skin -- for example, picking a scab or the skin around your nails -- can become so frequent and intense that it causes bleeding, sores, and scars.

What Are the Signs of Skin Picking Disorder?

    • Does picking at your skin take up a lot of time during the day?
    • Do you have noticeable scars from skin picking?
    • Do you feel upset when you think about how much you pick your skin?
    • Does picking at your skin get in the way of your social or professional life? For example, do you avoid the beach or the gym because people might see your scars? Or do you spend a lot of time covering up sores before work or social events?

How Does Skin Picking Disorder Develop?

Skin picking disorder happens in both children and adults. It can begin at almost any age. Skin picking disorder often develops in one of two ways:
After some kind of rash skin infection, or small injury: You may pick at the scab or rash, which causes more injury to the skin and keeps the wound from healing. More itching leads to more picking and more scabbing, and the cycle continues.
During a time of stress: You may absently pick at a scab or the skin around your nails and find that the repetitive action helps to relieve stress. It then becomes a habit. Skin picking disorder is considered a type of repetitive "self-grooming" behavior called "Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior"(BFRB). Other types of BFRBs include pulling or picking of the hair or nails that damages the body.
    Treatment
Skin picking disorder is treated with therapy and medications. There are two main kinds of therapy for skin picking:
Habit reversal training. The therapist helps you identify the situations, stresses, and other factors that trigger the skin picking. Then your therapist will help you find other things to do instead of skin picking, such as squeezing a rubber ball. This will help ease stress and occupy your hands.

Stimulus control. This therapy involves making changes to your environment to help curb skin picking. For example, you might try wearing gloves or Band-Aids to help prevent feeling the skin and getting the urge to pick. Or you might cover mirrors if seeing facial blemishes or pimples brings on picking behavior.

Reasons why you shouldn't sleep with Makeup

You shouldn't sleep with makeup because the thought of washing your face at night can sometimes be as appealing as curling up with a textbook. And TBH, you’re not even wearing a lot of makeup so what’s the point, right? Your day-old makeup — plus the sweat and oil that naturally accumulate throughout the day and the pollution and grime from the environment — is standing between you and the complexion of your dreams. It might even be prematurely aging your skin.

Image result for reasons why you shouldn't sleep with makeup

Here are some reasons why you shouldn't sleep with makeup on.

    You'll break out.
"If you don't cleanse your face, dirt and dead skin cells are not removed," explains celebrity dermatologist Dr. Annie Chiu. "They stay on the skin, clogging pores and leading to chronic inflammation in the form of pimples."

     Your complexion will appear dull.
If you've ever woken up in the morning, looked in the mirror, and wished your skin looked brighter, your lack of cleansing before you hit the bed could be the problem. "Oils and dead skin cells on the outermost layers of the skin are matted up against the pillow all night, and natural turnover of this dull epidermal layer is diminished,"

Your skin will look older — and you'll have more wrinkles."Dirt and makeup trapped against your skin cause environmentally-induced oxidative damage," says Dr. Chiu. "This leads to a breakdown of the skin barrier and prematurely ages your face."

If you have acne, you might make it worse.
While cleansing is an important step in anyone's beauty regimen, it's especially key for those who have temperamental skin. "For those with oily skin, like acne patients, sleeping in makeup could worsen their skin conditions," explains Dr . Chiu.

You could put yourself at risk for an infection.
While the act of sleeping in your makeup may not cause an infection, Dr. Chiu warns that if you already have an active skin abrasion, such as an inflamed acne pimple, it's possible that an infection can occur because your skin barrier is compromised. "Don't forget our skin is our first line of defense against infections," she adds.

    You may develop a rash.
"Makeup often contains irritants like dyes and perfumes that, when left on the skin for long periods of time, can cause inflammation," explains Dr. Chiu, adding that those with rosacea or sensitive skin can be especially susceptible.

    The Bottom Line
Even if you're super tired, wash your face before heading to bed — your skin will definitely thank you later. Dr. Chiu recommends you do it according to your skin type, although you should probably ask your dermatologist to help you figure out what's right for you if you're not sure.

"Cleanse twice daily. At night, if you wear heavy makeup, start with a quick makeup wipe. If you have normal to dry skin, find a gentle cleanser to lift off impurities, makeup, and dirt. For oilier skin, look for exfoliating cleansers with alpha-hydroxy acids, and for acne-prone skin, consider a topical treatment that contains active ingredient dapsone."
